Mount San Jacinto via Marion Mountain 2023 – Solo Hike

September 26, 2023

Went up a day early to do an overnight at Marion Campground and acclimate a bit – during the week, it’s usually pretty easy to get a first-come-first-serve spot there. Thankfully the bugs weren’t too bad this year and I was able to spend an inordinate amount of time playing around with my new Durston X-Mid 2p. The first pitch was pretty good and I have to say that I am a sage cult convertee! Great piece of quality gear. Strawberry Jct / Little Round Valley are calling my name…

The trail was in great condition after all the rain damage we had this year. Started before dawn – the sunrise over the valley was out of this world – it looked like a painting. The weather was ideal as well – low winds and mild temps. It was perfect quiet day – this remains one of my favorite hikes in the region.
