Kicked off my New Year hiking my 1st peak, Cuyamaca from Azalea Glen trail and looped back by taking the fire road. It was very cold, in 30s felt like plus some added wind chill from time to time. Some ice on the wooden bridge and along the trails mixed with the soil in the first 2 miles.
We didn’t see anyone along this trail on our way up but quite a few families were hiking on our way back in the fire road.
The top was even more cold and didn’t stay long to enjoy, having the place for ourselves. I believe, we made personal records for finishing it way earlier than anticipated… the coldness pushed us to walk way faster😁
