El Cajon Summit

This hike was a lot harder than I anticipated because the hills are steep! I’ve hiked a lot, but I’ve never encountered so much up and downhill grades before. My thighs will be reminding me tomorrow. The trail signs are above average because the miles markers show where you are on an elevation map. That can be a good thing, or a bad thing. People online talk about water. We hiked in 50-60 degrees temps and went through more water than I thought we would. I brought extra to be safe. We could see the ocean sparkling in the west on the way back. It was worth it.
