Honestly, this was the PERFECT hike to start the year off. Winter/snow hikes are special and this one was no exception. This hike is quite the drive but always worth it, especially in the snow. We arrived just before the sun came up. Trail conditions were patchy snow starting at about a half mile up the trail. By about mile 1 the rest of the trail was completely blanketed. Most of the trail was travelled, with the exception of the last mile. The trail disappeared at that point, as most people turn back by then. My buddy and I blazed our way up the rest with no foot holds to follow because we've done this trail snow covered many times. Managed to not need spikes until about the last half mile. Got some great video footage and had a good, cold lunch at the top. There were only 2 others at the top with us! And we got down by noon. Can't ask for a more perfect day!
