It was 60 when I started at 9am and felt hot on the trail in the sun, chilly in shade. I was the last car to fit in the little lot by 9am, but there are other areas you can pull off on. Also, the road to the trail is a few miles of dirt/gravel but should be manageable for most cars.
There were sooo many bees! I didn’t get stung but worth noting if you’re allergic! Trail is in good condition; as others said, wear long sleeves and pants though as you walk through several miles where plants/trees are touching you. I did lose the trail once or twice but all trails got me back on track! Not many people on the trail.
I hiked this one slow. It is rated hard and it felt challenging to me though I’m not quite sure why as I’ve done longer and higher with no issue. Maybe b/c the first half or so is a pretty steady incline then the second half is more intense with some climbing sections with rocks. It kicked my butt and I was glad I had extra water and packed a sandwich! I’m a slow and steady hiker who typically goes without stopping to rest and I found myself taking quite a few moments to catch my breath and collect my energy.
The views at the top are incredible! I sat for a while to rest and enjoy. Fun writing my name on a paper in the little box at the top. I felt I had accomplished something awesome doing this one! Oh and my Fitbit said it was 8.2 miles and that I burned over 3,000 cals. Enjoy!!
