Rose Peak
Also on this hike
Started at 8AM at Sunol Visitor Center. Hike is pretty steep and strenuous mile 2 – 4, every other aspect is a steady incline. Weather was perfect for this hike; sunnry with little to no clouds and at around 60F all day.
Saw a bunch of cows, wild boards and birds. Hiking through the wilderness is very quiet and peaceful with barely anyone around. Scenery was better than usual during this time as the hills was green rather than it’s usual dry yellow color.
Had lunch at the peak and saw a bunch of fellow hikers doing the exact same challenge. Also found a notebook with other people completing the hike in the past! Coming down was a breeze and met some other backpackers heading up to the Maggie’s campground. Took a quick detour to Goat rock as well, which I thought was more interesting than the actual peak.
You definitely want to come during winter / early spring time. There’s no shade on the way up, so you really need the clouds and cooler weather to keep you from burning up. Would recommend this for people who needs time by themselves or just need to be away from the city.
After the crowded Mission Peak Hike, I am definitely looking forward to this more secluded section of the area.
Good job on completion!
