The hike up Cuyamaca via the Azalea Glen Loop was phenomenal. It took a total of about 4 hours (with a snack stop at the top)! It was cold and icy to start, with a few slippery points. As we ascended it seemed to get warmer and sunnier ( or what we expected!). Taking the trail up, the incline was gradual and, frankly, didn’t feel too difficult. People aren’t kidding when they say the trail is wet – you’re basically hiking up a little stream – but it’s beautiful and easy with the right water proofed shoes. At the top, there is a sign and a little goodie box you can leave something at so be sure to bring pen and a paper or a little souvenir! On the way down we took the fire road, which is shorter and steeper but much more dry. Overall this was a phenomenal hike for a group of mixed experience!
