Now I always climb Mount Woodson from the east on the Fry-Koegel Trail. This trail is always less travelled compared to the other approaches, which can be crowded on the weekends. There is also a fair amount of shade for the first couple of miles, although initially you pass behind a number of houses. After 2.3 miles the trail meets up with the trail from Lake Poway for the final push to the summit.
Surprisingly few people at the Potato Chip today, but it was a Tuesday afternoon. Glorious weather and the views were fantastic. Could see the snowcaps on the LA moiuntains to the north.
