Tackled my first in the 6 pack of peaks challenge – Strawberry Peak – which I chose as seemed like a good starter mountain which after completing I agree with (legs are still sore today though!)
Started around 5am as know its a busy trail and aside from one other person who took off at same time with me was quiet (some girls also had got to the peak for Sunrise so they must of took off around 4am) only started running into people on way back down. Trail is narrow in a lot of places but not too hard to find space to let people pass.
First 2 miles or so was really enjoyable great views all around specially one the sun started coming up. That last mile or so definitely was tough on the legs at several spots but nothing a quick break and sip of water couldn't help with. I actually found the hardest part to be on the return portion where there's a short but very steep uphill (downhill on the way to the summit though which was nice) which my legs hated me for. I dubbed it Yin Yang Hill.
Loved the hike and the views and would definitely do again (once the leg muscle soreness goes away)
