We started our hike at 8:46am and we reached the summit at exactly 11 am! My Apple Watch logged the miles at 3.74 miles and an elevation gain of 1,643ft. The trail has a few false summits which can be deceiving. I used AllTrails to make sure we were taking the right path a few times because there are a couple forks that you will encounter along the way. The weather was cloudy for us which kept the temperature in the low 40’s but it was no problem because once you get moving you will get warm quickly. Very little bugs were out but I would still recommend using bug spray because I don’t like to get bit by mosquitoes. We had the peak to ourselves and only saw a handful of people all day since it was a Thursday morning. We started our descent at 11:46am and made it back to the trailhead at 1:50pm, but not before my girlfriend spotted a tortoise just a half mile before the start of the trail! It was the highlight of our day and we both could not believe we saw a tortoise just chillen under a bush. Also, I would recommend to have hiking poles because the trail is especially slippery at the top and when you are descending you will appreciate having the poles to hold you up when traversing the steep sandy slopes. This was peak 1/6 for our 2024 six pack after completing the challenge in 2022 but failing to do so in 2023. Now we just wait for some of the higher peaks to be accessible!
