My early, pre-dawn start on normally busy Mt. Baldy was thwarted by the downed powerline on the road in. Mt Baldy Rd was closed and I was turned back by a police officer. I wanted to be the first one on the trail so I could freehike in solitude. Freehiking is hiking in the buff! I ended up driving all the way around on Glendora Ridge Rd. What a beautiful drive! Even though I had a late start, the road closure kept the crowds away and I had the trail to myself all the way to the top. As I approached the summit, I expected to see other hikers there, but as it turned out, I had the summit to myself for my sandwich and electrolyte drink. This completes peak 5 of my naked six pack of peaks challenge. My strategy of going early mornings, during the week to avoid other hikers has worked well. I've had considerable solitude on every hike so far. This is good training for World Naked Hiking Day next week. Will any other SoCal Six-Pack Challengers take advantage of Naked Hiking Day?
