A rather toasty hike today even with an early start. Bug net was appreciated. Lovely views of the surrounding peaks. Of note, our adventure passes no longer accepted at the parking lot directly adjoining the trail. You now need a Big Pines pass which is $30 for the year. There was a person accepting payment and handing out passes. However, you can park just across from the trailhead for free which he also helpfully shared

Thanks for the parking update. It’s pretty aggravating to have extra charges. I may need to skip that peak from now on.
Free parking just across from trailhead. Of note, the guy said that once the slide is finally cleared and the road all the way open, the forest service is going to apparently be auctioning off more of the trailhead parking lots. Very aggravating
