We did this on a warm day, in the middle of the day (we drove up from Phoenix to do this hike, and didn't get a very early start to our day). It was very hot with little shade, but we were prepared with water, electrolytes, and salty snacks. This is a steep hike! Even though its only 2.5 miles to the summit, it took us a little under 2 hours to get to the top. We saw no other hikers on our way up, and saw only 3 hikers on our way down. The views of the red rocks really make this challenging hike worth it. You have incredible views throughout the entire hike and we took quite a few breaks do enjoy the views and hydrate.
