It was a great day to hike Baden-Powell. I started a little beforell 7. The lot was empty, but parking across the road was getting scare. A concessionaire has taken over the parking at Vincent Gap and an Adventure Pass or National Park pass isn't enough for parking there. I'm not going to complain top much. Supposedly they take car of maintenance and the restrooms. Doors that shut and lock would be appreciated. You can park for free across the road.
It was hot today so I started late for early. The trail is in great condition and not too hot or buggy. I made it up to the top a little after 9am. Nothing to brag about, but OK for a fat old guy. Pretty windy at the top, I had to stash my hat or it would have blown away.
I spent a little while up top taking pictures and chatting with hikers and headed back down with a friend I hadn't seen in awhile and his sister. Ran into a few members of this group and others I'd hiked with before. It's always good to reconnect in person, not just through social media. Back down around 11:30 and in Wrightwood grabbing a sandwich at the market by noon. I recommend the market.
It's always a great day on Baden-Powell and today was no exception. And easy without snow.
