I went to a screening of the latest Yorgos Lanthimos film “Kinds of Kindness” in Burbank on Saturday night and it ended up being a longer night than initially planned.  Despite this I felt like I got a decent amount of sleep and I was ready to roll at 5 AM.  We started the hike around the usually 7 AM and I started feeling once we got moving.  The first section was outstanding with the wildflowers in bloom.  I can only imagine what this looked like a few weeks ago.  We tried to move at a decent pace to get to the summit before the heat really kicked in.  This hike was one of two that I hadn’t done before so it didn’t know what to expect.  I heard it was closed from 2020-2022 due to a wildfire and it didn’t take long to see evidence of that.  The burnouts were a bummer and the heat was really bad but we pushed through and made it to our fourth summit.  There was some snow piles on parts of the trial towards the top but they were easy to get around.  I loved the birds, the views, and the wildflowers and this easily became my favorite hike of the four so far.  I’d like to come back and try this again in cooler weather because it definitely is one of the best kept secrets.
