It is an excellent day hike, with only a little overflow parking by 8:45 am (I recommend this hike on a weekday if you are lucky to get one off like I did; summer parking may add up to a mile of extra walking).
Wonderful wildflowers, birdsong, chipmunks aplenty, and more water than I've ever seen flower in my years of hiking this trail. With the water, though, came the BUGS. I neglected to wear bug spray, so don't do what I did: cover yourself in insect repellent! I walked away with multiple red bug bites.
I had the fortune of seeing my first California mountain kingsnake who was getting an afternoon drink of water of the flowing creek, the same as me. Wonderful day out. Thank you, Cucamonga!
