The hike logged to 10.6 mi for us.
it was forecasted to have the highest temp of 89 but it reached 97 mid afternoon as we were heading down to the trailhead. It became too hot to hike that my buddy had to stop a few times to cool down in the shade spots. Glad the last 1.5 miles to the trailhead had a lot of shade by the creek. Bring lots of water and/or water filter and electrolytes. More than you expect to use.
About 0.8 mi to the peak, there are 2 ways up: either straight up like we did via a rocky, loose rocks, steep type of trail (short and spicy route 😅) or via the dirt road. Be careful when taking the dirt road as there are bikers, cyclists and off roaders who were driving very fast. Lots of dust!
If  you’re taking the road route up the peak- turn left at the junction and follow the blue ribbon markers.
Beautiful views of Lake Cachuma and Pacific Ocean/Sta Barbara and lots of wildflowers this time of the season.
