It’s a hike of two parts. First half, the trail path is nice and firm and easy on your feet. But most of the first half has no shade. If you start early enough, the ascend is mostly in shade except the last bit. After the camp at 3.5 miles, the trail becomes narrower and some brush growth. It’s also rocky and gravely at times.
Overall, yesterday was pretty warm. The last two miles of the descend was a challenge in 80+ weather. It’s a good difficult hike and a great one if you’re preparing for something like Whitney.
