Really nice views at the summit and a must-do considering it's the highest peak in SD County. That being said, the hike itself is really just a long walk up a dirt fire road with a lot of small bugs swarming you for about 2/3 of the trail. Like most people have mentioned on other sites, the first ~2.5miles are tough, with a very quick elevation gain. My buddy and I did this in 95 degree heat so it was definitely a good workout. I brought 3L of water and drank almost all of it. Follow the ribbons at the faux summit to reach the actual summit which will be to your right and the fire tower on your left. You'll have to climb a ladder and use some ropes to reach the top of a rock/cement platform with amazing 360 degree views. Exploring the old fire tower was pretty cool aswell. I would have enjoyed this hike much more if it weren't for the bugs. Even with bug spray they were pretty unbearable. I highly rec you bring a netted hat. Will probably do again in cooler weather.
