We started our ascent at 7:22am on a beautiful bluebird Friday morning. The hike is steep in the beginning and there was a lot of bug at the beginning! We used our head net to keep them out of our face. You can pick one up for cheap at Walmart in the camping section! Once you start getting higher in elevation the bugs dissipate and the temperature cools a bit. I would still recommend to start early because it can be hot during the summer months. The trail does have some decent shade though since you’re in the trees most of the time. We finished our ascent at 9:51am with my Apple Watch clocking 4.3 miles and 2,558 ft of elevation gained. The 2 hours and 28 min ascent was our personal best for this hike; beating our previous best by 20 min! The trail is pretty easy to follow and not as rocky as some trails in this challenge. We made it down in 1 hour and 45 min after about 45 min at the top. The flag and summit sign is missing though but we were able to see Catalina Island from the top! 3 down and 3 more to go!
