I’m happy to report that Ice House hikes are back open after the Vista fire. I’ve been waiting to do Ontario for about a month so was thrilled to see it was open. I started early and it was cool but very very buggy. Luckily I had my mosquito net with me and put it to use. On the way down, it was sunny and HOT. I went through 3 liters of water plus drank a 4th one when I got back to my car. Pack the sunscreen too!

The trail itself is filled with rocks and a lot of scree. I’m glad I didn’t wear my Altra trail runners because my feet would’ve been killing me. Luckily I was wearing boots and I highly recommend; they protect your ankles from rolling on the unsteady surface.

Overall it is a beautiful trail!  So glad I was finally able to do it.
