Reached the Fire station parking around 4.45 in the morning.Being the only one at the parking spot, packed my backpack and started my hike by 5. Slowly started walking towards the Oak Grove Trail with a torch in my hand and a whistle around my neck.
Initially my idea of doing solo hike early morning felt a bit scary as i get to hear only coyote howls.Upon reaching the post(Oak Grove Trail), kept walking up the trail. The trail is narrow and did observe couple of small birds(not sure what bird due to pitch dark) along my path and they did take away as i am moving ahead. So started to whistle going forward to alert any animals on the trail.
The first 2Miles along the Oak Grove Trail are steep with multiple narrow turns. Certain spots on the narrow trail will be at the edge of the hill climbing up. So we need to be watchful while steeping forward. I took around 1 hr to reach the Trail/road interestion. Through my hiking the weather was good. You get to find clouds hitting you and also fog. Torch light helped me alot for the first one 1hr.Didnt even find a single fly on my hike( it might be because of temperature( around 55C).
Upon reaching the Oak Grove Road that followed by Palomar Divide Road, the hike is a cake walk without much trouble. Weather is an added advantage to my hike. Able to capture nice pics of the foggy hills around, while moving ahead in my hike. You get to hear bird sounds alot when you reach the pie trees section. As mentioned earlier my whole hike up the hill is solo, didnt even find any other hikes till the end.
Able to reach the High Point by 8.50Am. Spend around 1hr up there, took some beautiful pics and had my food and then after 30mins ,a group of 3 people reached the high point. They captured few pics for me and i did the same for them. When we started to hit back(10Am)another fellow hiker(rigistered 6 peak challanger) reached the High point.
Took around 2 hours to reach the parking spot. Even the hike back down was also not tiring until I reached the start of Oak Grove trail.Narrow Oak groove trail was be a bit tiring down the hill.
Overall the hike was good with fresh breeze without any flies.
Look for temperatures on the specific day before anyone wanted to start High Point Hike.Carry as much as liquids and be safe
