This was our second trip up Black Butte. We did the longer route again. The trail is in great shape. The upper portion shines with views. The lower portion isn't bad, but it's a bit monotonous. We encountered some fall colors which was a treat. The Birch trees were going off with their beautiful yellow foliage. Once at the top, we could see many mountains as the weather was perfect. The top of Mount Adams could even be seen. We didn't realize Mount Adams is slightly taller than Mount Hood. The signage at the top had all the elevations of the surrounding peaks.
