It the day before and through the night, but the rain had cleared in the morning… for a while. About a mile into the ascent, it began to sprinkle, then rain intermittently. We began to see some snow on the trail about 600-800ft from the summit. As we got closer to the top, some of the trail was covered with snow, so we put on our microspikes for safety. Getting to the parking lot on top of Wilson was a sight to see; it was covered with snow, the plow was going, visibility was low. Echo rock was a winter wonderland!
First time hiking in the rain/snow, and it was a great experience. The clouds parted as the sun came out as we began our ascent, and it was all God’s doing—I was a bit nervous about being so cold and getting wet on the way down, but it didn’t rain anymore. After the rain clouds parted, the views from the top were amazing and clear. Unforgettable 🙂
