I hiked Cucamonga Peak on August 18th, and it was quite a strenuous trek! I only got about two hours of sleep the night before, plus we drove from San Diego both before and after the hike. Despite the relatively low elevation, the air felt surprisingly thin on the trail that day, making breathing tough.
My initial plan was to include Bighorn and Ontario Peaks as well. However, when we reached the saddle, I noticed the trail between Cucamonga and Bighorn wasn’t officially listed on the map. We decided to start with Cucamonga to check out that section, but it looked like a nearly vertical climb—short but extremely steep. So, we opted to stick with just Cucamonga this time.
