Scrambling up to Sitton Peak
Also on this hike
My husband and I hiked to Sitton Peak via the Bear Canyon Loop Trailhead today. The parking lot across from the trailhead was closed; but we got there around 8:00am and there was plenty of street parking.
The trail was moderate with some up and downhill hiking until the last quarter mile. This section of the trail was quite the challenge for us, and we had to scramble to get to the top. But the view was well worth it! If we were to do this hike again, we would definitely bring poles to assist with that last quarter mile.
Overall, the trail was well-maintained and well marked. As you drew closer to the top, brush became thicker so make sure to wear a long-sleeved shirt and pants!
We did this hike in January, and saw about a dozen people along the trail; including some friendly doggies! It was a sunny day, but there was a wonderful breeze the entire way, that made it an overall lovely day!
