Hot Springs Mountain Hike

March 2 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 pm PST

This is an opportunity to hike Hot Springs Mountain — one of the six peaks in the San Diego Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge.

Summit: 6513 ft.
Distance: 9.8 miles out and back.
Elevation Gain: 2,401 feet.
Time: approximately 6 hours.
Difficulty: “Difficult” Not a beginner hike!
Pace: Moderate or slower, think tortoise! We plan to stay together as a group. One of us will function as the sweep.

Hot Springs Mountain, the highest point in San Diego County at 6,535 feet, would be worth hiking just for that fact, but there's so much more to enjoy. After a tough initial climb, the trail is peaceful and scenic as it winds through conifers, giving the feel of a higher alpine area. And at the summit, you get to visit the oldest standing fire tower serving Cleveland National Forest, dating to 1942, and then enjoy a ladder climb up to the actual summit. It's a fun and beautiful hike that's tough but not too tough.

This hike is on the Los Coyotes Reservation, a remote and peaceful part of eastern San Diego County.

**There is a $11 per person cash only charge to enter at the entrance or click here to pay in advance.

What to Bring:
Shoes with good traction, hiking poles (optional, but recommended), snack. Bring plenty of water and be prepared for sudden weather changes. Bring layers!!!

Let us know if you have any questions; BTW: we have no assurance that we will have cell service on this hike.
