Mount Woodson from the Back

I have hiked Mount Woodson many times from all the different trail heads.  Here are the reasons I now will only hike it from the back (Mount Woodson Rd.):

1. It is shorter but steeper so gives you a great training workout for bigger peaks.
2. It’s much less popular so you’re not hiking in a mass of people the whole time.
3. The rock formations are stunning.
4. The views east are stunning.
5. The trail from the west has been trashed (literally) every time I have been there and it hurts my heart to see people being so careless with nature.

If you hike the east route, be aware that there is only street parking (although it’s never a problem due to the aforementioned lack of crowds) and the first part skirts some private residences so follow the signs and stay on the trail.
