Wife’s first 6 Peak Hike! Lake Tahoe Maggie’s Peak

It was just a quick hike with my wife up to Maggies Peak in South Lake Tahoe at Emerald Bay on Sunday 9/14. This was my 5th peak of my Lake Tahoe 6 Peak Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge!
We started out a 735am. The weather was cool, clear and there were few others on the trail. This was one of the first hike’s she has been on with me in a while. Apparently 14 miles, which is my usual mileage, does not appeal to her but 5 is very reasonable!
We started out at the Bayview campground parking and took the Bayview trail all the way up. There is a $12 fee to park. Bring exact change or you can scan a code to pay.
The trailis a steady climb with a few “flat” areas. Make sure to have you camera ready because the views are incredible.
The trail to the peak is not marked to you need to follow the All Trails map. It is about .3 of a mile off the main trail to the top.
Our first stop before the summit was Lake View point. Many picture were taken then it is just another 100 yards to the summit.
It was a grand day to be the only ones there.
As we descended back to the parking lot we now encountered many others with dogs making their way up. It was also beginning to warm up pleasantly.
We made it back to the car by 11am.
It was a great day to be at Maggie’s Peak! In total we hiked 5 miles, gained about 1814 in elevation, in about 3 hours. Not counting the time we stopped to take many pictures and take in the views!
