Cucamonga Peak from Icehouse Canyon (2025 SoCal Six Pack of Peaks #5)
From the Icehouse Canyon parking lot, which was almost full to the Icehouse Saddle is the same old hike starting with a bit of rock/boulder hopping and then it ends in a fairly wide dirt trail. It gets steep in parts, but manageable. From the Icehouse Saddle to the Peak is is a much narrower path, with occasional drops, though not the Devil’s Backbone type of drops, and occasional walks on rocks-covered sections. There are a couple of shortcuts on the AllTrails map, and I suggest taking them, especially right before getting to the peak. This time around, instead of taking that last shortcut, which is admittedly a bit steep though short, we followed the trail and ended up adding close to a mile to the route. The peak is quite nice and enjoyable. Kudos to the groups who have brought up the nice peak signs there. Hope the signs stay up there. Had a good picnic lunch, but waited too long, and ended up walking the last mile of so back to the parking lot in the dark. Good one, overall.
