The recommended Alexander Basin trail is inaccessible now superseded by Butler Fork Trail. The climb is steady through the woods, and I finally reached the summit at twilight after three hours of grinding. Spent about an hour taking in the ever-changing views from Gobbler’s Knob summit. The swirling cloud and mist were dramatic and captivating adding to an already impressive sunrise over the adjacent Wasatch peaks. With temperatures plummeting I headed back down thankful to be finally warming back up. Being Labor Day, the trail was crowded on my descent. A few people referred to how early I must have started to be this far down. Thoroughly enjoyed this peak and now being more than halfway through this Challenge.
