Umunhum, sounds hard but not.
Group of 5 training for Mount Whitney. My pack was 25lbs.
We got to the gate and it was closed, but soon automatically opened before we shut off the car. Drove up the the trail head parking lot. Once we had our packs on our back, we started on the trail at 8:30am.
Weather was clear for the most part. Trail was muddy at time, crossed a few streams, and there are some short bridges. Few other people on the trail. Trail had a lot of shade. Switch backs ended the trail close to the parking lot. The rest of the trail was closed so had a detour to the parking lot. Then came the hardest part of the trail, STAIRS. Maybe about 60 steps and we reached the top of stairs. Peaked about 10:00.
Peak is paved with 360 degree views. Cube is gated off. Had some food and started back down. Saw more people on the way down.
Reached the car about noon. While stretching and loading our bags, we met some other six packers. It was their first this year while we peaked our third. We exchanged stories and tips. Maybe we'll meet on another peak.
Conclusion: My opinion is that Um is the easiest. Love the slow inclines and history lesson while hiking. My Mount Umunhum is DONE. So Mt UmunDONE.
