A tough alternate route to the peak due to the fire closure…very steep and rocky. The peak is littered with radio towers and clouds obscured the view so it was a difficult hike with little reward. I would not take this route again. Holy Jim is a more gentle route, so I would wait to see if that reopens on time in September if this peak is on your must do list.

Was that detour route harder because of steepness or just longer and harder route in general? Trying to do this Peak next myself, thanks.
It was both very steep, rocky and longer than Holy Jim. All of our GPS’s clocked 18.5 miles.
