Greetings from the observatory! Here were my observations our loop hike via Gabrielino trail/sturtevant camp and Upper Winter Creek – 14.5 miles. Hike was good, despite the high 80s temp since we started at 6.45am and the trail is nearly all shade anyway. Bugs started to get annoying for me after Sturtevant Camp – I wore my bug net for the rest of the hike up and down. The trail on the descent right after the summit/carpark showed sad signs from the recent fire and the footing is a little loose. Not too bad, and still walkable but not super steady. Need a little moisture to dampen it down ideally (without it completely sliding away of course).
