#halfwaydone!
When we started out we didn't plan on doing a peak that day. We just wanted to see the waterfall and have a little exercise but as we continued going we'd see the signs for the peak. 3.5 extra miles? I could do that! Maybe… 3.5 extra felt complexly doable when I thoguth we had already done 7, once we hit the point of no return I found out we had actually only gone like 3 miles already. Oh well, I made it!
The waterfall was gorgeous, and it was really nice to hike hearing some running water in certain places. California really needed the rain so it's great to see nature prosper on it.
From the actual hike, it was amazing that it was primarily covered with trees so it wasn't so hot. Make us feel more refreshed. The lower falls hike was overgrown with plants so we had to take the upper falls hike trail which was a bit more exposed. Very happy to dash back under those trees when we could.
The actual peak was a bit disappointing compared to the others just because it was an observatory which was closed for winter so we couldn't enjoy the views as much. If we had known the observatory wasn't open until 4/1 maybe we would have waited so we could enjoy the buildings up above.
Major warning, once you get back down to the bottom of the mountain you have 3/4 mile of an uphill battle to get back to the parking lot. Whoever planned that is seriously cruel because you keep turning corners thinking the madness is over… but it isn't…
