First hike in 20 years, and never this long or altitude gain. First 4 miles were fine, 5 was tough, then miles 6-7 to the summit were brutal. The goal is to summit, not how fast you get there, so I took lots of breaks. Lots of great people on the trail, wildlife seen were flies. You get to the summit and there are tour groups walking around, and they look at you, and you know they are thinking, “ you must be cheep, you could have drove up here”.
The hike down was fast 2.5 hours, lots of fallen trees on the trail. Make sure your boots have great tread, lots of hikers falling going down hill because of the loose gravel and angle of descent.
Cucamonga next when the north face snow melts a lot(still lots of snow and 2 experienced hikers fell and got lost).
