May 2019 – Still lots of wildflowers in bloom along the way, along with plenty of poison oak! Stick to the trail and you should be fine, leaves of 3…let them be – 4th time hiking up Mount Umunhum, plenty of shade even mid-day. Nice spring afternoon hike.
Condition: Trail is in excellent condition with a few sturdy bridge crossings. Mind your step as there is the occasional loose rock/gravel. Shared with bicycles so be prepared to move over as needed. On a really clear day you can see out to the coast. No potable water so be sure you are prepared prior to arrival.
Parking: Very limited number in the Bald Mountain parking area, another option is to park at the top and hike trail from top down and back.
