Joan and I left Manker Flats (6,020′) at about 6:50am enjoying clear blue skies and a cold snap in the air. San Antonio Falls was beautiful as was the trail all the way to the Lodge (7,595′). After a brief rest stop we proceeded up to the summit via the Devils Backbone Trail.
Light cool winds greeted us along the ridge line as we made our way past the Mt. Harwood/Register Trail turn-offs. We reached the summit at 11:40am, enjoyed a quick lunch, and proceeded back to Manker Flats via the Sierra Ski Hut trail. Plenty of cold water (bring your water filter or iodine tablets) at the ski hut.

You were on the summit of Baldy when I arrived for lunch. I recognize the matching jackets.
Hopefully we will cross paths again some time in the future. Safe travels to both of you.
Hi Ian – Yes ! Both Joan and I do recall you summiting near the time (about 12:25pm) we were gathering up our gear to head back down. This week we are headed to the Echo Mtn. to hike up to Inspiration Pt. In the meantime, we hope to allow a little more snow melt before tackling Cucamonga Pk. …hopefully before the end of May.
Safe travels to you too !
Tom (and Joan).
