Drove up to Manker Flats in a fog bank but when we arrived there it was clear. The weather was a perfect 50 degrees! My husband Tom and I took the road up to San Antonio Falls where the water was gushing and continued up the fire road to the Notch. Took a nice break and headed up the Devil's Backbone. We meet 2 hikers along the way and traveled with them to around the Mt Harwood trail before they stopped. One of the hikers seemed to be experiencing altitude trouble. We continued up crossing a few patches of snow before making the summit. There were 3 people on top enjoying the beautiful weather and snapped a few pics for us. The views from the summit were fabulous and we could see all the other peaks. We decided to do the loop and head down via the Ski Hut. Coming down this route had many large patches of snow that we crossed without difficulty. The water spring near the hut had a good amount of water flowing and we filled our bottles. As we hiked back to the car, we still crossed people traveling to the summit. Overall, very steep trail from the Notch up and coming down the Ski Hut trail but no complaints as the trail was fairly empty and the weather was perfect for hiking!
