We decided to do Mount Baldy instead because on 3 separate occasions we had to abandon our plans to do Cucamonga Peak due to concerns regarding snow on the trails. Although that day was cold, we went in as prepared as possible and the trail conditions were good. After a quick stop at the Top of the Notch Restaurant we made our way to Devil's Backbone which includes a strenuous climb along the way.
The last climb to the peak was fairly challenging with some winds along the way, and colder at the top. There was a lot more snow patches along the way then when I first hiked it early summer of 2017. We spent minimal time at the peak, took our celebratory photos and quickly headed back to the Top of the Notch Restaurant for lunch.
