Hiked with a friend up from Manker Flat trailhead and turned left up the Baldy Bowl Ski Hut trail. We stopped to use the Ski Hut facilities and take a break. Weather was perfect for the strenuous climb. From the ski Hut the ascent becomes steeper still. Roughly 1/4 mile before the summit we encountered stretches of snow covering the trail which was easy to cross. The weather at the summit was cold and windy. We decided to descend via the Devils Backbone trail and It began to snow lightly which turned to small hail and by the time we reached the “Devils Backbone” trail marker it was a light drizzle. We encountered many other friendly hikers on the trail and enjoyed a very rewarding hike.
