My boyfriend and I started the hike around a quarter to 8. We started our hike on Manker Flats trailhead. The weather was perfect. It wasn't to cold or to warm to start off with. The fire road was a bit boring until you get to Baldy Notch. We hungout there for a little to take a snack break. Hiking up the ski slopes was a bit challenging but the best part was hiking the Devil's Backbone. That was the first time I felt like I was on a real hiking trail that offered amazing views from all over. When we made it to the summit it was a little breezy and chilly with some clouds rolling in. We hungout at the summit for a while to have lunch and take in the amazing views. Unfortunately, it wasn't a clear day so there wasn't a whole lot to see. There were a good amount of snow patches at the summit and on the way back down Baldy Bowl trail. At the beginning of the descent we had to walk through a snow field but it was well traveled so it wasn't difficult. It is quite steep hiking down Baldy Bowl trail, make sure you have good boots on to protect your toes. The trails were well maintained. There were a lot of markers on the Baldy Bowl trail and signage as well. There were no markers or signs up Mankers Flat until you get to Devil's Backbone. It took us about 7.5 hours to hike the entire loop, not including, our snack break at the Notch and our lunch break at the summit. As we did get closer to the end of the trail, it was pretty warm but comfortable. I'm finally happy I was able to make it to the summit my second time. First time I had to stop and turn around before the summit because of severe weather conditions.
