I started up from Vincent Gap at 6:45 am. There were only a few others at the parking lot or on the trail during ascent. It was a beautiful day and it didn't take long before I had to start shedding layers. I was super happy to have convertible hiking pants, and hiked in the shorts version for almost the whole trail up and back. Being passed by some very friendly trail runners made me feel like a wimp sucking air up the switchbacks. There were still some areas of the trail with significant snow accumulation at higher elevations, which kept the hike interesting. They are all crossable without technical gear, but I was happy I had snow travel training and experience. The more serious trail on the saddle and the summit were completely snow free and in good, safe condition. On descent there were a lot more people on the trail up, and I was happy I started early. Even with about 20 minutes on the summit, I was back to trailhead by 10:30 am.  Overall it was a beautiful day on a beautiful trail.
