I started my hike at 7:45 a.m. with Claudia a beginner hiker she wanted to join me. I informed her that we could go at her pace and not to feel pressured or worried about the time. So we made several stops because she has never experienced elevation and this was her first experience hiking a trail. We managed to get to the Notch and rest for a couple of minutes and continued to the Devil's Backbone, she was able to hike across but was scared and unsure of how she was feeling. Shortly after it started to drizzle very lightly and Claudia decided not to continue to hike to the summit. I departed from her and continue to head to the summit, along the hike I got light hail and the temperature started to drop. I was feeling very cold and was able to enjoy the summit for a couple of minutes. I experience light hail and some remaining snow was still on the side of the hiking trail. I hiked back down and met with Claudia at the Notch. We did not finish the hike until 5:00 p.m.
