We reached the trailhead just 10 mins after our group had taken off on the trail, but spent almost 20-25 mins figuring out where to start from. That was a bummer. Once we gave up hope of catching up with our group, the 3 of us (hubby, me and kiddo) got set on a good pace and made quick progress. Hobbs Rd is a drab though, it wasn't fun hiking up on road so wide vehicles can drive it. Loved the small short cuts we took from here and there. Kiddo did the “short cut” section really well! We had an inside joke going on that “Mt. Sizer will cut us down to size”, and it was welcome to hear from the kiddo “Mumma, I don't think it cut me down to size. It was brutal, but I survived!”. The bugs bugged us more than the intensity of the trail itself.
