Solstice Temperature Inversion – SB Peak

Trailhead:

San Bernardino Peak Trailhead

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Trail in good condition

ROAD:

Road suitable for all vehicles

Bugs:

Bugs were not too bad

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

Had a nice hike up to San Bernardino Peak for the solstice.  Small amounts of snow in a couple places, did not require spikes. Limber Pines Spring is flowing nicely.

The highlight was the temperature inversion which trapped a layer of clouds at low altitude, so the entire hike was above the clouds in beautiful blue skies! And the treat I brought myself for the peak, given that it is not only the summer solstice, but also the first day of summer vacation (HS teacher)
