Beginning this hike at 6am was 100% worth it, as I got to see four hot air balloons landing near the parking lot. However, because I was the first person out on the trail, I managed to clear more cobwebs than I have in my entire life. It was much cooler and more comfy when I headed out, as opposed to when I got back to the car when it was around 84 degrees. There was one part of the hike right after the first ascent where I almost lost the trail, but managed to find the white arrows after a few minutes of exploration. This was a great hike for me, as I enjoy rock scrambles and lots of red dirt. I definitely had a pretty distinct sock line when I took my shoes off at the car. At what I imagine was the first false summit, there was a great spot to just take it all in and mediate for a few. Also a great picture spot with a rockin' view. Past this I repeatedly saw and heard alarmingly large bugs which I assume where cicadas. Reaching the peak after the second false summit was incredibly rewarding and I saw SO MANY lizards on the way back down. This was another hike I will have to add to my favorites list.
