Hiked Cucamonga peak on Friday 6/21/19 with my old pal and former post-college roomie, Natalie Flightner.
We started out at 6:15 am.. the parking lot was empty.. and low clouds and fog shrouded the hillsides. We only saw a handful of hikers.. less than 10.. during our ascent. The trees, creek, and foliage were gorgeous, and the trail was nicely kept. There were hardly any bugs, if any.
We summited at 11am and ate lunch up there.. the views were stunning! The low clouds from the morning shrouded the LA basin, making for a fluffy and heavenly view. We signed the notebook in the ammo can and took tons of pics with the summit signs. There were about 8 other people at the top, and the energy was positive and electric.
On the way down, the sun was intense, but not unbearable. It was probably 75 degrees during out descent, and we passed about 15 or 20 hikers on their way up at this point, most of them carrying large packs, and they did NOT look happy to be hiking in the heat! We were back at the car by 2:00, totally elated. It was a great workout!
We ate dinner at the Mt Baldy Lodge and were in bed by 6:30pm.. LOL… had to get rest for the next day: BALDY!!!!
