Tough, but well worth the hike up. From the summit, you get these amazing views of the Inland Empire, LA County, Orange County, and the desert area beyond Palm Springs. You could even see Joshua Tree National Park from here. The hike starts from the Marion Mountain trail in the San Jacinto State Park and from there you’re going straight up, climbing about 4,400’ in elevation over the course of nearly 7 miles. On the way up, I ran into several streams of water and it was very green with lots of trees. The trail was mostly clear of snow until about 8,500’ when I started to see patches of snow. Once I got up to around 9,000’, I started to use my microspikes to help me climb higher up. The last mile or so was very steep and there was lots of snow but I was eventually able to get to the top.
