We left Camp Sherman at 4:30 am to summit Black Butte for sunrise. It was dark, cold and clear. Our group included my 7 year old granddaughter. The trail is in great condition and is a fairly steep hike. The views from the top of Suttle Lake and several Cascade Mountains are superb. There were several varieties of wild flowers blooming.
